twitter birdGet ready to see twitter all over the web! Twitter have announced their new @anywhere platform, and it's going to make twitter readily available to users browsing through different sites. The new @anywhere development makes it so easy for normal Websites to implement the social-media micro-blogging functionality of twitter into their own site, and with a wide range of partners for the rollout already, you can prepare for a serious competition between them and Facebook.

Biz Stone was explaining earlier on their blog that they have been developing a new set of framework for adding the twitter experience to your site. Everyday sites that we all use will soon be able to add a layer of ‘social value’ to what they already provide, increasing and expanding user experiences, without having to send them to Twitter.com.

They then stated that their open platform technology is already well known, with twitter API’s already in use. Why would you need this then, would be an obvious question to ask. But they continue to reveal that instead of the current process of implementing a twitter API, all you have to do with the new @anywhere platform is drop in a couple of lines of JavaScript.

Twitter's new platform

This gives the @anywhere platform a greater functionality and more versatility over where it can be implemented. The end result is better and much easier to integrate than a twitter API, which makes it a significant breakthrough to the world of social media. Twitter wanted to give their platform a good start against its biggest competitor, Facebook connect, which they have easily achieved. With Twitter already signing the likes of Amazon, AdAge, Bing, Digg, eBay, MSNBC, The New York Times, Yahoo, and YouTube, you can expect to see them at anywhere and everywhere, very soon!
