Facebook has just reached a new landmark as it has gone past the 350 million user mark. This exciting news was mentioned in an open letter posted by Facebook founder, Mark Zuckerberg. In that open letter, Facebook also announced that it will be closing the regional networks, alongwith the introduction of several other changes.
Facebook’s growth rate just keeps on rising. Back in November it reached the 325 million user mark.
The decision to shutdown regional network is taken with the vision to improve user’s privacy. Regional networks have become overcrowded, with some regional networks having more than 100 million members, which automatically creates concern regarding the safety of user privacy. Regional networks have become a hit among Facebook users as 50% of the social network audience have joined various regional networks.
The ever popular social network will also be rolling out new privacy changes in the upcoming weeks. These privacy changes are intended to give user more control as to who gets to see the content you share or upload. So what this means is, now you get to decide will you be sharing your content with everyone or with friends or friends of friends. Privacy page will be getting a simpler design as well.
Facebook will be rolling out the mentioned updates in the next few weeks. So be ready to update your privacy settings.
